Tendonitis is caused by inflammation in or around the tendon due to overuse, disease or injury. Tendonitis can worsen if the affected joint is continuously used without alleviation or time to heal. Healing time can range from 2-4 weeks all the way up to 6 weeks in chronic cases. Ice, elevation, and use of splints or bands can alleviate discomfort and aid the healing process.
