Mueller Building Project

150,000 sq.ft. Facility Needed To Handle Increased Production, Warehousing And Staff

Although the past year hasn’t been a good one for most American manufacturers, it has been a boom time for one Wisconsin-based firm. In fact, business has been so brisk at Mueller Sports Medicine that it broke ground in late August on a 150,000-square foot plant expansion to handle the increased production, warehousing and staff required to keep up with current demand.

The new facility is being built adjacent to several existing warehouses on the Mueller campus in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin. Scheduled for completion in June of 2010, the structural steel building will feature 12 shipping and receiving docks and will increase Mueller’s storage capacity by 30 percent. The expansion will also allow for space to be freed up in other buildings to accommodate the nearly 30 new employees Mueller has hired in the past 18 months.

Mueller Sports Medicine manufactures a variety of athletic braces, tapes and supports, as well as Quench® gum. The company, whose products are sold worldwide, has experienced particularly strong sales gains in overseas markets during the past year. “We are fortunate to have high caliber employees, strong products and diversified markets, including international sales, pharmacy retail and retail sporting goods,” said company founder and CEO Curt Mueller. “This expansion allows us to essentially combine four warehouses into one, which makes us even more efficient and competitive.”

The new Mueller Sports building was designed by Architecture/CSH, Inc. of Madison and is being built by Ideal Builders, also of Madison. Founded in 1961 by Curt Mueller, Mueller Sports Medicine is a family-owned and operated international sports medicine company offering a complete line of patented braces, supports, tapes and taping supplies and continues to introduce new and innovative products around the world.
